Other than having great views over at Menara Tun Mustapha, get on to one of the highest viewpoint for a great City view of KK, an awesome place to be during sunset or just for stargazing at night.
Whether you love views from a high point or is a photographer or someone who just loves to chill somewhere up high breathing in the fresh air, consider Signal Hill Observatory Tower as a must visit in your list. It is totally free of charge except if you need the restroom, you’ll have to pay 30 cents. There is a cafe for you to buy a drink, snacks or meal up here too.
Located at Jalan Bendera, you can choose to either drive or get a cab which will cost you about Rm10-15 as there are no buses available to get here. If you are intending to take a walk or hike up while soaking in the fresh air, you may take a 10 to 15 minutes walk or hike on a 250m path wooden walkway and steps via Signal Hill Forest Trail which is located right beside the DBKK (Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu / KK Community Centre).
It is located behind and close to Jesselton Hotel / Kinabalu Backpackers Lodge and Hotel Garden. So if you are staying in any of these accommodations, getting here is a brisk for you. If you’d like, don’t forget to stop by Atkinson Tower before or after your visit to Signal Hill Observatory Tower which is located at the base, near the Padang Merdeka’s Entry Point.
Being up here makes me breathe a sigh of relief. I’m not sure why but I realised I had been smiling alot while I’m here. I just love the view, the place, the people and everything about Sabah. I feel it so close to my heart that my Day 9 here in Sabah gave me a reason to start life anew.
I wished I could be here during sunset and at night. But this week will be a busy week for me. But for sure, I’ll be back soon. Here’s some familiar photos of KK City with Pulau Gaya in view. You’ll have to come here to get even more better shots or photos. There are more angles you can play with.
