Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah is an archipelago made up of 99 islands (an extra 5 temporary islands are revealed at low tide) in the Andaman Sea, some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. Situated at the West coast of Malaysia, Langkawi is part of Kedah’s state. It has been one of the most well known tourist destination other than the famous Georgetown and Penang, of the British Settlement. FYI, Langkawi is a duty-free Island!
There are many ways to reach Langkawi. Click here to find out the ways to get to Langkawi. You can take a direct flight by AirASia which is usually has got the most lowest price among the other airlines such as Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Silkair.
Due to unplanned and last minute addition of me joining my friends, my air tickets by AirAsia was generally much costly compared to the rest of them. I manage to book the tickets exactly 21 days prior to the departure date, 7 June 2012. And the price I got? SGD $229 inclusive all fees, taxes and selected seats for return flight. That’s about $60 more than my friends who bought their tickets at least 3 months in advance for a price lower than $170 (all-inclusive).
Nevertheless, the little pinch in my pocket will not be able to stop me from having a week vacation off my busy schedule. I expect and wanted to cover more places during the 5 day week vacation as I’ve done my research of the Island. And so far we’ve covered most of the attractions places and eateries! True enough, Langkawi has great restaurants around! But I would really love to come back someday to do more activities and explore more of the village and learn something. Nevertheless, this vacation is still fresh in my mind. The Mangrove Tour & Island Hopping are awesome! The feeling of the wind blowing through your hair as you enjoy the view & smell of the Andaman Sea, is just beyond amazing. I have videos and photos to share!
